Open Letter to Our Prime Minister.
Respected Prime Minister,
Namaskaram!
I write with heartfelt gratitude for the decisive actions you have been taking up. Your personal attention to citizens’ voices reaffirms our faith in your leadership.
Today, I bring to you the quiet anguish of India’s IT employees-over 5 million salaried professionals. These individuals power India’s digital economy, contribute the highest share of direct taxes, and uphold the nation’s global reputation for innovation. Yet, they increasingly feel neglected, overburdened, and unprotected
Sir, while street vendors receive direct financial aid and small entrepreneurs benefit from credit guarantees, the IT professional – whether in a multinational giant or a startup – receives 'nothing' in return for their sacrifices.
In Bengaluru, Gurugram, Hyderabad, and Pune - our proud IT hubs : a single spell of rain brings the city to a standstill.Greater Noida and Noida being an exception at handling monsoon but then again traffic jam is still a problem their.
Traffic jams stretch for hours, productivity suffers, and mental health deteriorates.
And when the layoffs strike, as they have in waves over the past two years – these professionals, often the sole breadwinners, are left with zero government support. No safety net. No retraining programs. No grievance redressal against powerful MNCs.
Worse still, women returning from maternity leave are among the first to be let go , with no platform to voice their plight or seek justice apart from a few posts over social media.
Respected Sir, As per our great Kautilya's Arthashashtra a nation’s duty is not just development, it is care and empathy as well, towards all it's subject equally.Just as a father does not favor one child over another, the State must embrace all its children. The IT professional is not asking for charity but only for fairness, dignity, and protection.
I humbly request your immediate intervention to bring the following reforms:
A National IT Employee Welfare Policy –
including unemployment allowance, mental health support, and skill-bridge programs during layoffs.
Uniform GST & Compliance Framework for IT services across states to eliminate double taxation and bureaucratic harassment.
Fast-Track Grievance Cells under the Ministry of Labour to address wrongful termination, especially in cases of maternity related layoffs.
Infrastructure Upgradation Mandate for all Tier-1 IT hubs with dedicated funding and timelines.
Sir, these are not just policy requests – they are cries for justice from a community that has given its youth, talent, and taxes without complaint.
They want to feel proud to be Indian, not just during Independence Day speeches, but in their daily lives.
You have shown, time and again, that no citizen is too small for your attention. I place my trust in your compassion and vision.
Please let the IT professional know through action that they, too, matter.
With deepest respect and hope,
Vande Mataram!
